My Personal Story
I am a proud mom of three kids, Matty, Danny, and JoJo. I've been married for 20 years to my husband, David. As a family, we love to travel, spend time outdoors hiking and swimming, play sports, make art, watch movies, and play with our dog, Fred.

I grew up in central Massachusetts, attending the same school system for K-12. I come from a blended family where my eldest sister and I were adopted. My foster sister joined us at age 16, and my brother, my parents’ biological son, was born two years after I was adopted. Despite our varied paths into the family, it was abundantly clear that we were each full, valued members, and celebrated because of our unique qualities. This was my earliest and most formative lesson about inclusion and belonging and I believe it shapes my thinking in ways that I don't even realize.
My parents valued education and both worked their entire careers in schools. My father as an 8th grade English teacher and my mother served as the lead secretary. Their love for education impacted my choice of careers and led me to work first in higher education, and now in independent secondary education as Head of School at a boarding/day school in New Hampshire where my eldest son attends as a 9th grader. I hope to pass the same respect for education and love on lifelong learning to my children that my parents taught me. I hope that my children are inspired by my pursuit of a master's degree and my commitment to becoming fluent in Spanish.

Growing up, I was involved in many activities, but my passion was athletics. In college, I played basketball and was a member of the track & field team as a high jumper. I won three Division III national championships in the high jump and competed for the 2004 Olympic Trials. I still hold the Division III national records in the high jump, indoors and outdoors. Sports taught me persistence, grit, how to collaborate, and how to pursue a goal with a plan.

I have also had a lifelong love of languages, which is ultimately what made me apply to Middlebury College and pursue my master's degree through MIIS. In high school, I studied four languages: Latin, Spanish, French, and Japanese. In college, I minored in Japanese Studies. Currently, I am studying Spanish at an intermediate level and my goal is to continue to improve my Spanish fluency.

I enjoy coaching my children in youth basketball. I also volunteer locally as a Friend of Rotary, helping to lead an annual fundraiser for the local food pantry and serving on the scholarship committee for a number of years. These activities help me feel connect to my community and give me treasured time with my children, both of which help me find balance, fun, and perspective.
